A Good Time
Misha works in the church of our partner in Moldova. He grew up as an only child and came to know Jesus at the age of 15 in an ACP camp. His father Teodor was a foreman on the collective farm and was known for putting new employees to the test. However, not with work, but with alcohol. Anyone who was newly hired had to drink with Teodor – and not just a little. Drunkenness was the top priority. In this way, Teodor turned many men into alcoholics, either directly or indirectly.
He lived this life for many years. After his retirement, he didn't want to stop working completely and looked for a new job. So it came about that our partner's church hired him as an on-call tractor driver. There, he heard about Jesus again and again over the years. But he couldn't really accept the Good News.
Surprise!
Some time later, Teodor developed diabetes—so severe that one of his legs had to be amputated. When he came home after the operation, the pastor suggested, -- Come, let's pray together. Would you like that?“ Teodor agreed. Then the pastor asked him, ”Do you want to accept Jesus? Now would be a good time.“ To everyone's amazement, he replied, “Yes, I would like that, even though I am so old. --
His wife was sitting in the next room, listening to the conversation, and she exclaimed, “If my husband is going to do that, then I want to accept Jesus into my life too!” So that same evening, they both decided to entrust their lives to Jesus. The news spread like wildfire. Many former colleagues from the collective farm, who also struggled with alcohol, saw the change in Teodor and also came to faith.
Because Teodor's son Misha did not let himself be discouraged for years, even though he was often laughed at and his parents did not want to have anything to do with faith for a long time, they and many others finally found Jesus. And after a serious illness, Teodor went before them to the heavenly Father.
