A God Who Listens
Participant Michelle reports: “One of the ACP projects in Moldova is a home for people with disabilities. Pastor Viktor told us how, shortly after construction began, he received word that he had to return the building to the state—even though he had already been granted a building permit. He was deeply shaken. At first, he didn't want to tell anyone about it, but instead chose to trust in God's intervention. He began to fast. On the eleventh day, he heard a name that was completely unfamiliar to him. As it turned out, it belonged to a member of parliament who was also the head of the secret service. Viktor contacted him and explained his plight. And sure enough: with this man's help, he managed to reclaim the building.”
Participant Salome reports: “My personal highlight was the children's camp. Since we don't speak the local language, we could hardly communicate with the children. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time together. On the last evening, the children were allowed to choose gifts. One boy chose Playmobil and a Bible. We read from it together. I didn't understand a word of Romanian. But when the boy came across the word Dumnezeu (God), he looked up at me with a smile. I got the impression that he had heard about God at camp and was now very happy to have a book in which he could learn more about Him at home.”
Participant Michelle reports: “We also had the opportunity to visit the orphanage run by our ACP partners. The lovingly run home, with its peaceful atmosphere, struck me as a little piece of heaven on earth. An elderly couple cares for 15 children there with great dedication while praying for successors. The children welcomed us with open hearts. A girl from our group spotted a child in a photo whom she had met earlier at the children's camp and with whom she had immediately hit it off. She learned that this girl's greatest wish was to have a friend, because she often felt very lonely. So the two were able to exchange contact information and continue their friendship. That moved us all deeply.”
